On-line and on tv self-defense classes

We empower women and girls by offering free self-defense classes to community women and girls age 15 and up. The program was put on halt because of the Covid-19 crisis. Now we are sponsoring these classes by Zoom online and on TV. All women and girls are welcome to be planned by Worcester Senior center. Our instructors will teach lessons. There will be no charge attendees. See below a note from Worcester Senior Center (WSC).

Self-Defense Classes for Girls and Women by Joy Guru

The Worcester Senior Center (WSC) staff and participants are honored to welcome back the Joy Guru Humanitarian Services: Self Defense course, with instructor Beth George, RN and Karate Master. Class supported by the kind generosity of Dr. Satya Mitra & the Joy Guru Humanitarian Society.

Join Beth George, M.S.N., R.N., registered nurse educator and black belt in karate for 4 – 1 hr. sessions that will assist you in learning techniques that will allow you to protect yourself from an attack. These techniques will also include the use of a cane for self-defense.

Because of the building block nature of the course participants are strongly encouraged to commit to attending all of the classes. The most important quality for you to bring to this course is a willingness to have fun and bravery.

For many years, the WSC in collaboration with and Dr. Satya Mitra and the Joy Guru offered self defense programs in person. Due to COVID 19, this program will be virtual and kick off in January to celebrate the new year and encourage seniors to learn something new. The program will air on the Worcester Government Station, as part of the WSC Stay Connected Program Channel 192. The program will also be added to the WSC website Stay Connected Videos playlist and posted on the WSC Facebook page.
